About The Australian Ska Archives
Our Mission
The Australian Ska Archives is dedicated to proactively collecting and archiving the history of Australian Ska. Our mission is to catalogue, conserve and preserve the history of Australian Ska for current and future generations to enjoy.
The Collections
The collections provide a glimpse into the history of Australian Ska. The collection currently includes artifacts and artwork from 1980's through to present day covering all Ska eras and styles. The Physical collection is continuing to be catalogued and archived for preservation.
Acknowledgment
Without the generosity and continued support of individuals throughout the Australian Ska community, who have generously donated items, this collection would not be possible.
The Australian Ska Archives acknowledges the Aboriginal Traditional Owners of our country throughout Australia and pays respect to their cultures and Elders past, present and emerging.
History on show
The Australian Ska Archives has been created to showcase the history behind the Australian Ska Scene. The intention of the Australian Ska Archives is to build a repository for artifacts relating to the many bands, labels and individuals who have played a part in creating and keeping ska alive. The collection currently holds some 1000 artifacts which are being catalogued and archived for future generations to enjoy. As there is no permanent space for an ongoing display, this website has been created as a virtual display zone and will hopefully bring you as much enjoyment as it has given me creating it.
Explore the artifacts and help piece together the history of Australian Ska.
The site will continue to evolve and grow over time with more information and artifacts being added as they are available. You can help by filling in missing information against the artifacts that are on show by emailing Australian Ska Archives with any additional information that is relevant to any item in the collection.
Whether they have been on the scene for many years or only managed to play a hand full of gigs, this section is being created to ensure that we capture the history behind the bands that have helped keep ska alive in Australia.
Within the Australian Ska Archive pages, we cover a wide range of artifacts, flyers, photos, clothing, Music, handwritten lyrics, artwork, and everything in-between for your viewing pleasure.
Donating to the Australian Ska Archives
If you have any items gathering dust, stored away in boxes never to see the light of day, or artifacts that you just don't know what to do with. You can donate them to the Australian Ska Archives where they will be catalogued and archived for preservation and use in future exhibitions.
The Australian Ska Archives is focused on collecting recordings, photographs, posters, stickers, badges, clothing, lyrics, set lists, scrapbooks and other related memorabilia associated with Australian Ska.
